Description:

Works for brass by the Greek master Xenakis! The 23rd release from bastille musique is a collection of works for brass by Yanis Xenakis, one of the most important contemporary composers of the 20th century! The 23rd album released by the luxury Berlin label "bastille musique" is a collection of works for brass instruments by Yanis Xenakis, one of the leading contemporary composers of the 20th century, who used his knowledge of mathematics and architecture to create many innovative works using probabilistic methods with the help of computers. A collection of works for brass instruments. The Ensemble Schwerpunkt, a brass quintet founded in 2009 by players from the Hanover College of Music, aims to further expand the possibilities of conventional timbres and instruments in the brass repertoire, and has already collaborated with some of the most innovative composers of our time. The ensemble has already collaborated with some of the most innovative composers of our time, and has produced dozens of new works to date. In one of Xenakis' greatest masterpieces, the concerto "Aeonta" for five brass instruments (two trumpets and three trombones) and piano, which is also the main program of this album, the superb virtuosity of the piano and the grains of sound produced by the five brass instruments create a unique and calculated world view. The recording features the participation of distinguished musicians such as Tom Paulson, a member of the Stockholm Chamber Brass, one of Sweden's leading brass quintets, and Přemysl Vojta, a genius Czech horn player who has made a name for himself around the world as the successor to Radek Babolák. The program conveys the essence of the music envisioned by this great composer, who celebrated the 100th anniversary of his birth in 2022. This is an album that should be of interest to fans of contemporary music as well as brass music fans. In addition to a 48-page bilingual booklet (English and German) with explanations of the works and interviews, a leaflet printed with photographs of the composer and the recording is included.
