Special Concert Live in New York on the 10th Anniversary of "9/11" Gilbert & New York Philharmonic perform Mahler's "Resurrection" ACCENTUS MUSIC presents a remarkable video clip of Alan Gilbert conducting the New York Philharmonic, the orchestra's musical director, in a performance of Mahler's "Resurrection. In June 2008, he performed the Ninth Symphony with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the program commemorating his retirement as chief conductor, and shortly thereafter made a session recording of the same work for BIS.Incidentally, Alan Gilbert also performed Mahler's "Resurrection" on September 22, 24, and 27, the day after the 2011/12 opening, with a different lineup of soloists (Mia Persson and Lili Persikivi). Mahler's "Resurrection" is a highly eventful work in nature, beginning with a funeral service and culminating in a finale with the chorus singing hymns of praise in high spirits.
