Serenade No. 1 in D major, Op. 11, a fine work by Brahms in his early twenties, was originally composed as a septet for flute, two clarinets, bassoon, horn, violin, viola, cello, and double bass, and was performed privately, but due to its popularity, Brahms rewrote it as a two- wind orchestra work Brahms rewrote it as a two-wind orchestral work. This is the Serenade No. 1 as we know it today. Unfortunately, the original manuscript of the serenade was destroyed and no longer exists. This recording uses the restored score from the orchestral version. Spohr's Ninth Quartet is a masterpiece known as the Grand Nonetto. Ensemble Obligato Hamburg was founded in 1995 by flutist Inme Jäänne Klett. The double bass is played by Hiroyuki Yamazaki, who has been the principal double bass player of the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra since 2005. Tobu Land System
