Ejiri Minami's second release on the GENUIN label! The Diabelli Variations is Minami Ejiri's second release on the GENUIN label (the first was Schubert: Late Piano Works, GEN14327, specially selected by Recorded Arts). A graduate of the Toho Gakuen School of Music and the Frankfurt College of Music, Ejiri was awarded the Best Performer Prize at the 13th International Chopin Piano Competition and the Mazurka Special Prize by Mr. Cerny-Stefanska, and is currently based in Germany. This time she recorded Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations," a masterpiece of variations along with Bach's "Golteberg Variations. The powerful energy of this difficult piece, which is also the culmination of Beethoven's variation techniques, and its bottomless variety of profound variations, are carefully unraveled and played in a graceful manner. The 10 pieces include the theme and coda from "50 Variations on a Waltz Theme by Diabelli," in which Diabelli asked 50 popular composers of the time to arrange the theme of his own composition, and then compiled them into a single variation.
