What began as a solo project for Cologne- and Berlin-based tenor saxophonist/composer Niklas Mundemann, Muito Kaballa has evolved into a large ensemble that has received rave reviews from BBC Radio 6 Music and KEXP, as well as from Nubya Garcia and The group has been featured on BBC Radio 6 Music and KEXP, and has also been featured by Nubya Garcia and Jamie Cullum, and has gained popularity for its passionate live performances. While continuing the jazz tones of their previous album "Like a River," this new album has a more direct and pop feel.The lead track, "Loving You," is equal parts classic soul and contemporary soul, with a sadness and warmth reminiscent of both, while "In My Delir," featuring Petite Noir, paints a dreamy world of highlife-inspired guitar loops. Afrobeat and soul intertwine fiercely on "Flowers Only Grow After the Rain Falls," and the vocals on "Make Me Bigger" flutter over a West African groove as the band sings of friendship and hope. The final song, "Too Good For Me," is a future dance classic that blends Afrobeat, boogie, pop, and punk. A one-of-a-kind kaleidoscope of sounds that will resonate with fans of Khruangbin, SAULT, and Michael Kiwanuka.
