Description:
A rare project of Vivaldi's Viola d'Amore Concerto performed by Viola d'Amore and Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra! A rare project of Vivaldi's Viola d'Amore Concerto performed with viola d'amore, mandolin & guitar orchestra! Vivaldi composed several concertos for solo viola d'amore for his students at the Pietà Conservatory. He also composed a concerto for mandolin. Vivaldi's intention in this album seems to be to create a synergy of charms by combining these two instruments, which Vivaldi chose to play solo, and which are characterized by their overtones. The solo viola d'amore, which seems to be clad in a beautiful veil, and the soft, enveloping air of the mandolin and guitar orchestra combine beautifully to create a unique and beautiful sound. The coupling is the Sonata for viola d'amore and violin by Mannheim School composer Carl Stamitz. Carl Stamitz was also known as a virtuoso viola d'amore player, and he left at least three concertos for this instrument. This work is an unusual combination of sonatas, and the third movement uses the melody of the French folk song "Marlborough went to war," which was famously used by that Beethoven in his Victory at Wellington (War Symphony). It is a beautiful hidden masterpiece that contrasts and blends viola d'amore and violin, which have similar forms but different sounds. Pierre-Henri Zéleb, who plays viola d'amore, is a violist who graduated from the Conservatory of Avignon at the age of 13 and studied at the Juilliard School, the last pupil of Primrose. He was also viola player of the Ensemble Intercontemporain under Boulez, and is a virtuoso whose works have been dedicated to him by prominent contemporary composers such as Stockhausen and Holliger. He is also a virtuoso viola d'amore and has released several albums. Violinist Christophe Giovaninetti, who formed the famous string quartets, the Isaï Quartet and the Elysée Quartet, and was active as the first violinist, is currently a professor at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he also teaches younger students. In Japan, he is known for his duo with Izumi Aoyagi, a close friend since their student days. The Académie de Mandolines et Guitars is an orchestra of mandolins and guitars in Marseille, formed by Vincent Bert Demande, a mandolinist, composer, and professor at the Conservatoire National de Marseille, with a total of 30 members.
