Description:

This is a masterpiece recording of the piano sonatas of Weber and Dusik, the pioneers of Romanticism, and a collection of their masterpieces. Lisa Uy revives their piano works that dominated Europe at that time. Lisa Yu is a pianist who has been active in a wide range of activities mainly in New York, and after making her professional debut at the age of 7, she has won numerous awards, including the highest prize at the Cenigalier International Piano Competition as the youngest winner, and continues to attract a great deal of attention. Weber's sonatas include the first sonata in existence and the sonata that is considered to be his last work. The Sonata No. 1, which opens impressively with the sound of diminished seventh chords, has a calm first movement and a lyrical second movement full of happiness, while the third movement is an anxious and dynamic scherzo. The final movement, full of light-hearted sounds, seems as if it were a grand finale at the end of an opera. It is an attractive work with a dramatic sound reminiscent of the many famous operas he created. The "Farewell," on the other hand, is said to be Weber's last work, but its title and questionable work number have led some to suspect that it was a forgery by Weber's successor at the Dresden Court Opera, Leisiger. However, this work contains many traces of Weber's typical style, and it is a work that allows us to see the extent of Weber's influence at the time. From Dusique, a work composed in mourning for her patron, Dusique was the favorite of Marie Antoinette at the end of the 18th century, and faced the upheaval of the French Revolution. Composed in the year she was sent to the executioner's block, "The Passion of the Queen of France" is a work full of pity for this tragic queen. However, rather than being full of dramatic tragedy, the tone of the piece is rather stately and graceful. It is a work that beautifully expresses the inner life of the queen, who was noble until the moment of her execution. The other work is dedicated to the death of the Prussian Crown Prince Ludwig Ferdinand. It is a beautiful masterpiece with a gentle ending in F-sharp major that seems to have been composed to pray for the well-being of the Crown Prince after his death and written as a prayer for his repose.
