Xavier Sabata, the third release on the Aparte label, is a countertenor who has been performing with such old masters as Biondi, Jacobs, and Savall, and is now in the thick of things. In the pioneer days of opera around 1600, intellectuals attempted to establish the genre of opera in order to purify the souls of their audiences by shaking them with the powerful drama of opera. Sabata titled this album "Catharsis (Purification)" and composed the program with arias full of passion. It is a piece full of intensity that will move your heart. Armonia Athenia is an orchestra that performs both period and modern music. The Greek conductor Petrou is the music director. King International
