Big Thief reissues their 2016 debut album "Masterpiece" on <4AD>. This first release on 4AD features fan favorites "Paul," "Real Love," and the title track "Masterpiece," all of which have been remastered and reissued. The album was recorded in July 2015 in an old house on Lake Champlain that was converted into a studio with producer Andrew Sarlo and engineer James Krivchenia (who later became an official member of Big Thief). Big Thief's debut album was a masterful work of art, with songs that unfolded in a few words while various characters and delicate stories were told. Adrian's voice and guitar playing cruise through emotionally mellow territory with grace and keen insight. In her own words, the album is "a masterpiece of existence, an attempt to awaken oneself and shake off numbness, whether by shutting oneself in or trying to connect with others.In its interpretation, it may be impressionistic or surrealist (surrealism), but it is all based on something simple." The work is the sublimated crystallization of what Big Thief fan Sharon Van Etten calls "a true journey, with intelligent stories and melodies with a twist," and the LP will be available on standard (black vinyl) as well as limited edition (eco-colored vinyl)."
