Chanticleer, an all-male a capella ensemble, was founded in San Francisco in 1978 by Louis Botto. The group is named after the rooster in "The Canterbury Tales. The ensemble sings with only male voices, even the soprano part, and is called an "orchestra of voices" because of its finely tuned ensemble. With a wide repertoire ranging from Gregorian chant to pop music, the ensemble has been called an "orchestra of voices" because of their diverse voices and astonishing range, and they are active worldwide. Previously signed to Teldec, the ensemble has produced approximately 14 albums to worldwide acclaim. This album is their first recording for Warner in 15 years, and the members have changed since then, so you can hear the new "Chanticleer" of today, singing a variety of music. Warner Music Japan
