Description:
The fifth in the Matador reissue series Revisionist History! The 20th anniversary edition of Mary Timoney's first album at the intersection of DC hardcore, Chicago acoustic and shellac! Mary Timoney's debut solo album, originally released in 2000, is now being reissued to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of her first solo album! Originally released in 2000, this album is a "journey into the new underground," as Mary herself describes it, with the dry drum and guitar work intact, but with the addition of piano, harpsichord, viola, and vibraphone, and a punk nihilism and a vast, surreal examination of the world that is unique in her discography. This is the most singular and most musical work in her discography. Guest musicians on the recording include Helium guitarist and ally Ash Bowie and John McEntire of Tortoise. The reissue features the latest remastering by Bob Weston (Shellac), who was also the mixing engineer at the time, and includes previously unreleased original takes of "Return to Pirates," "Poison Moon," and "Killed by the Telephone," as well as the original mix of "Valley of One Thousand Perfumes," produced by Joe Wong and mixed by Dave Fridman. The album also features a newly recorded orchestral version of "Valley of One Thousand Perfumes," produced by renowned Russian Doll and Midnight Gospel composer Joe Wong and mixed by Dave Fridman, as well as a gold foil embossed gatefold release. The album will be released in a gold foil embossed gatefold format.Four years have passed since their last album, "A Head Full of Dreams". Coldplay, a band loved around the world, is set to release a new album. This concept album is based on the theme of 24 hours in a day. The album, titled "Everyday Life," consists of two parts, "SUNRISE" and "SUNSET," and is a concept album about the limited 24 hours in a day. As symbolized by the band's first Tokyo Dome show here in Japan, "A Head Full of Dreams" was Coldplay's biggest tour to date, taking them around the world from March 2016 to November 2017, spanning about a year and a half. The band began work on this album while on tour around the world. Touching on topics such as war, conflict, the refugee crisis, sexism, harassment, gun control, corruption, and political corruption, the band seems to express in this album the current state of the world as seen from their own perspective. One of the songs on the album, "Arabesque," has the following lyrics: "I could have been you. I could have been you, you could have been me.This message may well be the heart of the album. The artwork for the current album is a composite of Coldplay's face on a photograph of Vic Buckland's dance orchestra, a band Johnny's great-grandfather was a member of, taken about 100 years ago.
