In addition to woodwind ensemble works by Janacek and Martineau, who represent Czech music, the ensemble will perform with Antoine Reicha (Czech: Antonin Reicha, German: Anton Reicha), who was born in the same year as Beethoven and was a friend of his in Germany and France, Combining the woodwind quintet of Pavel Haas, a Jewish Czech composer who was one of Janacek's greatest disciples, also known as a victim of the Holocaust, completes a fascinating program that offers a bird's-eye view of several generations of Czech music.Adam Walker (flute), who was appointed principal of the London Symphony Orchestra at the age of 21 and is now at the forefront of a new generation of wind players as soloist & chamber musician, founding member of the Britten Sinfonia and Haffner Wind Ensemble, and principal of the Camerata Pacifica Nicholas Daniel, oboe, guest principal with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and BBC Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Deutsche Kammerphil, Matthew Hunt, clarinet, principal with the Philharmonia Orchestra and currently principal with the ENO and Aurora Orchestra Amy Herman (bassoon), principal with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and Alec Frank-Gemmill (horn), who plays both modern and natural horns.
