The dream duo of Nathalie Dessay, one of France's leading divas of our time, and Michel Legrand, a master musician of the genre, are back together again for a chance encounter! Since then, Desay and Legrand have continued to make a splash with "Live in Versailles" and "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (Symphonic Version)" (both in 2014). Now the duo builds on that success with their latest album, 2017's "Between Yesterdays and Tomorrows: The Wonderful Life of an Ordinary Woman." The album is a story that follows one woman from birth to death, with lyrics written by Alan and Marilyn Bergman and songs by Legrand. It is truly an oratorio of our time, depicting childhood, adolescence, first love, and growing up to become a mother, all in songs colored with beautiful melodies that only Legrand can create.Originally conceived by Legrand in the 1970s but never completed, a chance encounter with his muse, Desay, inspired Legrand to completely revise the unfinished score and rewrite the lyrics to complete the entire work. This is Desay's third project for Sony Classical, following her albums "Picture of America" and "Schubert: Lieder," and her retirement from opera in 2013. This new album will allow you to fully enjoy the charming and unique charm of this exceptional diva, who has been attracting a great deal of attention for her activities that go beyond the conventional boundaries of opera singing, such as her performances of French and German songs and her collaborations with Michel Legrand.
