Arnold Mendelssohn (1855-1933), whose Mendelssohn family's treasured piano music has seen the light of day, was the cousin child of that Felix Mendelssohn. He is known as the compositional mentor of Hindemith and Kurt Thomas. Nevertheless, during World War II, his scores were burned by the Nazis and his achievements were almost erased. He is said to have contributed to the interest of people in Lutheran church music through the works of Bach and Schütz, and his Baroque-style works with strict polyphony are of great interest. The performer, Jerzybieta Sternlift, is a female pianist from Poland. She is a veteran pianist, having studied with Jęwecki in Warsaw and Perlmuter and Taliaferro in Paris. She is also known as a specialist in Mendelssohn's sister Fanny. King International
