The Flute Master William Bennett's SupremacyAn album recorded in 2014 by world-renowned flutist William Bennett, who is 82 years old as of 2018. The Sonata in F minor, Op. 4, composed when Mendelssohn was 14 years old, is originally for violin and piano, but this recording features Bennett's own arrangement for flute and piano. It is a supple rendition of Mendelssohn's flowing melody. The recording also includes a sonata by Mel Bonis, a female composer of the French modern era. At the time, it was difficult for women to become active as composers, and Franck discovered her talent and sent her to study at the Paris Conservatory, but she was forced to leave the conservatory when she got married and temporarily suspended her composition career. However, she later resurrected her career and left behind approximately 300 works in a variety of genres. This flute sonata was published in 1904. It is a very beautiful piece in which the theme at the beginning appears throughout. The orchestra also performs Dvořák's famous song "My Mother Taught Me" in his own arrangement. The arrangement was so beautiful that the lyrics of the song came to mind and struck a chord in the audience's hearts. Brahms' Waltz Op.39 consists of 16 waltzes.The original piece was written for duet, and it is popular for its variety of ideas and familiar melodies, the most famous of which is No. 15. Brahms also arranged this piece for solo performance. The recording here is a duet with Bennett's favorite pupil Lorna McGee and young player Emma Harnan.
