Religious yet sensual, Villiencourt's vivid Franck. In addition to his masterpieces for solo piano, "Preludes, Chorales and Fugues" and "Preludes, Arias and Finale," this album includes two concerto works, allowing the listener to fully enjoy Franck's piano music. The works are all from Franck's mature period, when he was said to have reached the age of great maturity. Although the external effects of these works are not so strong, they are full of Franck's unique and difficult techniques, and are also filled with organ-like grandeur. In addition, there are hints of Wagner's influence in the harmony and circular themes. The fact that Villiencourt recorded all of Liszt's Wagner arrangements five years ago may be reflected in his technique and interpretation, and I was surprised at how convincing he was. Of course, there is also a French sense of stylishness, creating an ideal image of Franck. The symphonic poem "Gin" and the symphonic variations were performed with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the Estonian-born female conductor Cloistina Poska. Poska was born in 1978 and attracted attention for her opera conducting.The "Djinn" is based on the work of Victor Hugo, and the symphonic variations also have a narrative feel to them, which highlights her skill in creating drama.
