In 1963, his mother, Marabelle Gardiner, created a musical drama to celebrate Easter, and John Eliot, a student at Cambridge University, performed it (a year before the founding of the Monteverdi Choir). The play was performed annually in his hometown for 20 years until 1984, and the choral music sung in the play became deeply connected to Gardiner's hometown. This disc is a reconstruction of that world, and shines with the subtlety of an important memoir. King International
