The Latin vocal ensemble "La Compaña del Madrigale" has made a name for itself around the world after their previous recording, Monteverdi's "Evening Prayer of the Virgin Mary" (GCD 922807), won the 2017 Record Academy Award in the category of "Music History". The eighth recording, following Monteverdi, is a collection of madrigales by Cipriano de Lorre (c.1515-1565), a Flemish composer of the 16th century who was an outstanding madrigalist. Born in Ronce in the Netherland (now Belgium), de Lorre was active primarily in Italy, where he left his mark with a number of progressive and outstanding Italian-language madrigales. Watch for the virtuosity of secular madrigals spun with the flawless voices of founding members Rossana Bertini, Giuseppe Mallette, Daniele Carnovici, and other great singers of the ancient music world.
