SCOTTSESKIND, a cult singer-songwriter from California who garnered attention after being selected for the compilation *SKYGIRL* by the acclaimed label EFFICIENTSPACE alongside artists like BRUCELANGHORNE and NORAGUTHRIE. This is his 1991 second album, which gained attention following the 2022 reissue of his 1985 debut. Originally released only as a self-produced cassette tape, *Chance* did not receive the recognition it deserved at the time, but over the decades that followed, it gained a cult following among collectors and lo-fi folk enthusiasts. Recorded in the early 1990s, this album is a quiet, diary-like work that weaves together fragments of the late night, memories, hopes, and doubts. Recorded on a 4-track Portastudio cassette recorder, just like his debut album, this release features a series of intimate, warm tracks crafted from an unadorned sound consisting solely of vocals, guitar, delicate cello touches, female backing vocals, mandolin, and percussion. Includes one bonus track.
