Description:

Gragnani was an Italian classical composer. In the early 1800s, he published chamber music with guitar in Milan, and gave many concerts in Germany and Paris. There he earned a reputation as an accomplished concert player and formed a friendship with the renowned guitarist Ferdinando Carulli. These three duets, written around the time he decided to move to Paris, are brilliant works with a bright Italian temperament that demand a high level of technique, as if to demonstrate Gragnani's virtuosity. Jörgen Skogmo and Jens Franke, who perform here, have previously recorded the little-known guitar ensemble pieces by Antoine de Royer (8.573575) and Jose Ferrer (8.574011) to great acclaim.
