Massenet, a French Romantic composer, completed nearly 30 operas during his 70-year life, and works such as "Thais" and "Manon" are still frequently performed as important repertoire for opera houses. He also left many ballets, suites, incidental music, and other works for orchestra. These works, with their sweet melodies, lyricism, and stylish French atmosphere, also represent an aspect of Massenet's creative activities. This album, conducted by Jean-Luc Tango, who specializes in French opera, includes Massenet's colorful works other than his operas, focusing on the ballet music "Espada," full of Iberian colors and charming rhythms, and the dramatic music "Vengeful Goddesses," which depicts a scene from Greek mythology of Electra's revenge.
