Description:

The "French Way" was fresh and new! The new ensemble "El Gran Teatro del Mundo" was formed in Basel, a major center of ancient music education, by a group of virtuoso players, mainly from Spain, who have been active in a wide range of fields in Europe. The program chosen for the CD debut of the ensemble is a selection of music that makes one realize how fresh and fresh the music was when Germans were just opening their eyes to the French suite style, which was strongly connected to the steps of the dance. Muffat, who was a friend of Corelli, an Italian of the same age, and studied under Lully, the royal music director of Louis XIV, in his younger days, has made both Italian and French styles his own medicine cabinet. By placing works from this collection at the beginning, the "French taste" in the French masterpiece "Bouquet de musique" that adorns the latter half of this disc and the ingenious suite by J.C.F. Fischer, who was also a contemporary of Lully and was strongly conscious of his style, are clearly audible in the composition. The compositions are also very much in the French taste. The final piece, a Telemann piece, is inspired by Polish folk music and has a vivid and wild sound. The ensemble includes such renowned talents as Michael Form, a veteran recorder player who has also worked with Cafe Zimmermann, and Yoko Kawakubo, a member of Re-Inconvenience and Les Tumbles, among many other renowned recordings. The recording captures the atmosphere of the space where the ancient instruments resonate with each other, and the unique flamboyance of French-style German music on the eve of Bach is conveyed in a particularly attractive way.
