Description:
Czech-born composer Antoine Reicha (also known as Antonin Reicha), a friend of Haydn and Beethoven, and a professor of composition at the Paris Conservatory, is known for having trained Berlioz, Liszt, and Franck. He is known as a composer of operas, cantatas, and all genres of music, especially chamber music with woodwinds, but his piano works have been rarely performed until recently. The TOCCATA label has released a complete recording of Reichl's piano works, including sonatas, variations, and exercises. The fourth collection features two magnificent sonatas and other smaller pieces such as fantasias and andantes, performed by Levenmark, who has worked on Reicha's works throughout the series. You can enjoy these neat works, which are in keeping with the Baroque style, while at the same time incorporating new approaches. Naxos Japan
