Description:

This album features two works that represent 25 years of work by the Henschel String Quartet, an orthodox German ensemble. The founders, the Henschel sisters from Munich, and cellist Beyer-Kaltshøi from the Royal Danish Academy. Here they are joined by Huber on piano and Hengstebeck on double bass, who are close friends of theirs, in Schubert's "Trout." The coupling is a fresh and complete string octet by 16-year-old Mendelssohn. The Henschel Quartet has performed the Octet with the Amadeus String Quartet and the Sawa Quartet in Japan, but here they will be joined by the Munich-based Diogenes Quartet, with whom they have performed together since 2010 as part of the "Nurturing Young Musicians" program. The quartet has been performing together since 2010 in programs to nurture young musicians, and the ensemble is well matched. Naxos Japan
