Schubert (1797-1828)

Description:

The Profil label's Vant masterpieces have been carefully converted to SACD hybrid format! The Profil label's Vant's masterpiece is now available as a SACD hybrid, licensed by the Altus label, with the latest re-mastering for this hybrid release. The final movement of the "Great," which is dense and not at all long, has a great sense of openness. The "Firebird" uses the 1945 version rather than the more common 1919 version, which is unique to Vant. The performance clearly unravels the elaborate orchestral technique, and the intensity of the final piece's mangled melody sends shivers down one's spine. The live recordings with the Deutsches Symphonieorchester Berlin, which he performed as a guest with the orchestra in the 1980s and early 1990s, show Vant's interpretation in a particularly vivid way. The essence of Vant's interpretation of the performance lies in the careful design of the individual parts to form a whole. The tempo is fast and never stagnates the flow, creating an overwhelming beauty of composition. The orchestra's appeal lies in its clear and dry taste, free of any sticky emotional expression. The Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin responded to this direction with great flexibility and excessive responsiveness. The sound is unusually dense, but at the same time, it is appropriately balanced. The result is an astonishing three-dimensionality. (Music critic Atsushi Suzuki) King International
