Description:

World premiere recording! The debut CD album by e.g. batoque, a period instrument ensemble formed by players active in the FBO and others, features the vocal music of 17th century German composer Darfit Pohle! e.g.batoque, a period instrument ensemble formed in 2021 by players from the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music, the Lauten Company, and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, presents its debut album on CD. The album features two talented countertenors and features a rare world premiere recording of vocal music by 17th century German composer Darfit Pohle, who was born in Marienberg in 1625. He is said to have studied in Dresden with Heinrich Schütz, one of the greatest masters of the early German Baroque. Schütz seems to have been the godfather of Pohle's children, and Pohle seems to have maintained a good relationship with Schütz throughout his life. Pohle seems to have left behind a large number of works, many of which are now lost.Twelve Love Songs" on a poem by Paul Fleming was the first work dedicated to Count Wilhelm VI of Hesse-Kassel, Paule's employer at the Court of Kassel, where he served in 1650. Written for two singers, two violins, and bass, this German-language song on a poem by the popular poet of the day, Paul Fleming, is a song of love, loss, pain, happiness, determination, and celibacy. This is a very rare recording of German Baroque music, as even today it is mainly church music and rarely features religious secular music. Pohle's compositional techniques are also noteworthy, such as how he adapted Schütz's Italian musical elements to the German text. The album also includes a trio sonata by Johann Philipp Krieger, a contemporary of Pohle's. Pohle's work is interspersed with a trio sonata by the composer Johann Philipp Krieger. Krieger also traveled to Italy to study the latest compositional techniques, and his trio sonatas and keyboard music are of the highest quality. The duo of Benjamin Rico, a young German countertenor, and Alexus Potter, a talented countertenor who has recorded extensively for audite, and Clemens Flick, a keyboard player who studied at the Schola Kantorum Basel, have been active in excellent period instrument groups, mainly in Germany. The CD is bound with an image of Vermeer's "The Woman Reading a Letter" from the 2021 restoration of Vermeer's "The Woman Reading a Letter". The CD is bound with an image of Vermeer's "Woman Reading a Letter" as it appeared after its restoration in 2021. The CD jacket as well as the entire booklet is decorated with the painting, which is reminiscent of the content of Pohle's songs. The booklet is also nicely bound to remind us of the content of Pohle's songs. King International
