Description:

The stunning beauty of De Pré's "Mourning the Death of Okegem" and other "mourning the dead, suffering death, and remembering death" were new fashions at the end of the 15th century. Josquin des Prés composed a song in mourning for the death of Johannes Okeghem (c.1410-1497). The Dutch vocal ensemble Capella Amsterdam, under the direction of Daniel Reuss, skillfully combines homage to the dead (secular works) with religious polyphonic works in a program that brings works by the Renaissance masters to life with astounding beauty.
