Drama of music sung by a famous baritone with an orchestra in the Mozart tradition Deutsche Grammophon is pleased to announce the release of an album of Mozart arias, duets, and songs sung by Italian-born baritone Andre Schuen. The order of the songs has been devised according to the mood, role, and theme of each piece in the world of opera and song, and they are beautifully put together. Schuen's "lively, beautifully contoured baritone voice" (Gramophone) and "innate musicality" (The New York Times) are captured in Mozart's works. The Mozarteum Orchestra and its principal conductor, Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas, from Mozart's hometown of Salzburg, whose members Schuen has known since his student days, as well as the enchanting Avi Avivy, who played mandolin in "Come, my dear Zither" and "Come to the Window" from "Don Giovanni". He is accompanied by Avi Avital on the mandolin in "Come, my dear Zither" and "Come, come to the window" from "Don Giovanni," by soprano Nicola Hillebrandt in the beautiful duet, and by Daniel Heide on the piano in the songs. The recording was made at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. This album was planned as a personal journey with Mozart's music and myself. I have tried to create interesting connections and flows so that the whole is one musical drama. It was a dream come true to record this album in Salzburg with an orchestra in the great Mozart tradition that I respect and admire, and with conductor Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas" (Andre Schuen).
