Alexandre Tharaud's Schubert sings beautiful melodies with lightness and delicacy. Alexandre Tharaud is a pianist of unique sensitivity and high musicality. His new album is a collection of Schubert's works. This is his first Schubert album, and here, too, he delivers a superb performance of a carefully selected program that is unique to Tharaud. The pieces on the album are "Improvisations, D.899 Op.90" and six pieces from the "Musikalisches Musik" cycle. So far, this is a conventional selection, but Tharaud has succeeded in presenting a unique world by combining music from the four "Rosamunde" pieces that he arranged himself. The Improvisation Collection is a repertoire that received great acclaim in The Guardian when it was performed at the Wigmore Hall in 2014. The first piece, in C minor, opens with a long, furious strike of unison chords in G, which tells us that this is an extraordinary performance. Following the four pieces, with their varied and fast-paced musical ideas, is the "Rosamunde" music. This is a brilliant arrangement that includes the famous Act III interlude: Andantino, which shows Tharaud's attachment to this piece.In the six "Musikmesse" pieces, which are richly varied in mood, Tharault sings Schubert's beautiful melodies with lightness and delicacy, highlighting the characteristics of each piece.
