Jethro Tull, one of the leading figures of British progressive music led by Ian Anderson, celebrated the 50th anniversary of their debut in 2018, and their "40th Anniversary Project" finally enters the 1980s! / The 40th anniversary edition of "Stormwatch: Mystery of the North Sea Oil Fields" is followed by the unique 1980 album "A", released the year after the 12th album, "Stormwatch: Mystery of the North Sea Oil Fields", in September 1979. Originally planned as a solo album by Ian Anderson, it featured a different sound and a different lineup. The album's title, "A," comes from Anderson's "A" on the master tape of the recording. The album featured Carved Air, Roxy Music, UK's Eddie Jobson, and Fairport Convention's Dave Pegg (who, incidentally, was a member of the "StorMWatch" tour), The album was recorded in the summer of 1980 at Maison Rouge Mobile and Maison Rouge Studio in London. Anderson and Robin Black produced the album, which was recorded at Maison Rouge Mobile and Maison Rouge Studio in London in the summer of 1980.This work, which boldly incorporates electronic sounds, is said to have caused controversy at the time of its release due to its new direction. This album is a stand-alone version of the original album, which was included as CD1 of the 40th anniversary deluxe edition of "A" released in April of this year. In addition to the original album, which features a new stereo remix by Steven Wilson, the album also includes five previously unreleased studio tracks. Bonus tracks include an alternate take of the single "Working John, Working Joe" from the album, an extended version of "Crossfire," and a studio outtake of the song "Coruisk. At the time of its release, this album caused controversy among fans due to its different and innovative musicality, but listening to it again now, it is a work that reveals Jon Anderson's insatiable spirit of musical exploration and innovation. This is a work that will continue to bring new discoveries after the 40th anniversary of its release.
