She has completed a new album that tells the stories of ordinary people in a realistic and sensitive way, with a robust country rock sound that combines traditional country, rock and roll, Americana, and Southern rock. She has a strong and powerful voice that sings straight through, and a sound reminiscent of 70's country rock.THE DEVIL I KNOW," which she created with her band Deadhorse, is an album in the same vein as her previous albums. When we decided to make THE DEVIL I KNOW, we got together as usual in a purple building in East Nashville, played some songs, and talked about what direction we wanted to go," she confides about the album's production process. We decided to take all the bitterness that tends to be said and expand on it. For example, when people said it was too country, we tried to make it more country." When people said, "Well, that's a lot of rock for a country artist," we said, "Well, what do you know about us? You don't know anything about us yet." And when someone says, "What we need is a mellow finger-picking song," I say, "You don't feel comfortable with a mellow song? Let's hear it. I'll show you how mellow it can be. I'll listen to all those comments and say, "I hear what you're saying. I hear what you're saying. But unfortunately, there is no space on this album for your opinions.So we do what we want to do," she continues. As Ashley puts it, the album is a further refinement of what she and her band do best. The album includes "Learned To Lie," a song Ashley wrote with Sean McConnell and Nicolette Hayford about her family, and the mellow "Loved To Lie," which is currently climbing the U.S. country charts and shows why she is considered "the most down-to-earth songwriter on the country scene. The mellow "Light On In The Kitchen," which shows why she is currently climbing the U.S. country charts, and the powerful Southern Rock title track, "The Devil I Know," are songs that reflect the daily lives of ordinary people and the joys and sorrows they go through.
