Description:
Lewis Curtin was born in Philadelphia in 1951. He studied at the Eastman School of Music, Harvard University, and the Tanglewood Music Festival. He studied with Samuel Adler, Fred Lardahl, Earl Kim, and Leon Kirchner. At Tanglewood, he studied with Gunther Schuller and Bruno Maderna. He has published over 100 works in opera, symphony, chamber music, and vocal ensembles. He is on the faculty of the State University of New York College of Music. The members of the recording team, soloists, conductor, and ensemble, are all highly regarded experts in the world of contemporary music. The recording is a masterpiece of quality. The Holuchowski Trio led by Rieko Aizawa, Holuchowski's last disciple, also participated in the concert, and the two sopranos showed their high level of skill by singing the difficult pieces with ease. Incidentally, Marissa Curtin, who sings "Two Chants," is the composer's daughter, and Stephen Beck is a member of the Da Capo Chamber Players. Tobu Shoji Co.
