Brahms (1833-1897)

Description:

Young German master Elschenbroich! Brahms on analog master! Rising star of the German cello world, Leonard Elschenbroich! This Brahms album uses analog technology to recreate the sound of the late 1950s and 1960s! Leonard Elschenbroich was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1985, studied at the Menuhin School and the Cologne Academy of Music, and has been selected as a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist and Artist in Residence by the German Public Radio and the Bremen Philharmonic Society. She is an elite cellist who has been selected as an artist-in-residence by the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, the German Public Radio and the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra. This is her first Brahms release in three and a half years since her highly successful Beethoven recording (ONYX4196), which was named "Editor's Choice" & "Critics Choice" by Gramophone magazine and "Chamber Choice" by BBC Music Magazine. Elschenbroich, who also made an analog (LP) version (ONYXSET4196) of Beethoven, is very particular about the recording of Brahms. Recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in England using analog recording techniques such as tape recorders, vintage microphones, and long takes, the CD was created without any digital processing whatsoever. The goal was to capture the sound of recordings made in the late 1950s and 1960s, and the result is a wonderfully intimate, warm, and crisp sound, as if the musicians were actually in the same room with the listener. Expect a recording that is said to perfectly capture the best of the LP's golden era of sound, rather than a digital sound that is sub-clinical and superficially bright. This is a Brahms album that audiophiles should also take note of! Tokyo M-Plus
