Description:

Grafenegg Music Festival 10th Anniversary ConcertYutaka Sado took on the "9th" with his best lineupThe Grafenegg Music Festival, an outdoor music festival held every summer in the suburbs of Vienna, celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2016. The Grafenegg International Music Festival, held in St. Pölten, home of the Tonkünstler Orchestra, is directed by pianist Rudolf Buchbinder, with the Tonkünstler Orchestra as resident orchestra, and Yutaka Sado, who has been the orchestra's music director since 2015 The concert features a performance by the orchestra. This video is from a live concert held in August 2016 to celebrate the festival's 10th anniversary. The Tonkünstler Orchestra led by Yutaka Sado graced that memorable concert with a spectacular performance. The theme of the concert was "The Spirit of Freedom and Fraternity. It is the very symbol of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.The 24 graduates of the EU Youth Orchestra, Camilla Nirundt, fresh from her memorable performance of "Salome" at the New National Theatre, Elena Zitkova, another popular mezzo in Japan, Klaus Florian Falk, a world-class Helden tenor, and René Parpe, a bass with exceptional expressive power. The Vienna Musikverein Chorus, one of the world's most talented choruses, will also make an appearance. The 9th is so well established that people associate Yutaka Sado with "the 9th," and this year's performance will again demonstrate the skills he has cultivated to date, bringing together all the performers with overwhelming passion and power, providing excitement and emotion befitting a summer open-air music festival. The festival also presented a new work by Christian Jost, the festival's composer-in-residence.The festival opened with a fanfare of a work commissioned by the festival, and before the main program, "The 9th," the world premiere of a work for orchestra and voice composed based on Beethoven's song "On Hope" was performed.
