Sergio Almaroli and Evan Parker's collaborative dialogue (Two Rooms One Vibraphone 1 to 6 & Five Interludes) was realized in 2022, relying entirely on the latest digital technology. But the very structure of music itself, call and response, aka antiphony, predates the digital age by thousands of years. On separate days, in separate studios hundreds of miles apart, the two players used file sharing to work on what was almost certainly the second oldest, if not the earliest, form of music production: one day in October 2022, Almaroli recorded five short solos and one long solo, and a little over two weeks later, Parker recorded his response in Ramsgate, a town on the south coast of England.
