Description:

Thomas Ades Shakes Beethoven Volume 3! The Ninth and Barry's "Eternal Return"! Beethoven conducted by the British prodigy Thomas Ades! The third and final volume couples Beethoven's Symphonies No. 7 to No. 9 with Gerald Barry's "Eternal Regression"! Thomas Ades (1971-) is a popular British composer, conductor, and pianist who has been called the second coming of Benjamin Britten. In Japan, he was selected as a juror for the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award 2020, and many of his works have been performed and recorded by renowned artists. The "Beethoven & Barry" project combines all nine of Beethoven's symphonies with works by Irish composer Gerald Barry (b.1952), who served as composer-in-residence with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and was greatly influenced by Beethoven. Beethoven & Barry" project. The third and final volume of the project couples Beethoven's Symphonies Nos. 7-9 with Barry's "The Eternal Recurrence".Written as a companion piece to Beethoven's "Ninth," "Eternal Regression" was premiered by Thierry Fischer & the Ulster Orchestra in 2000. While "Ninth" is based on Schiller's poem, "Eternal Regression" is a work for soprano and orchestra that sings of eternity and the power of humanity based on an excerpt from Friedrich Nietzsche's "Zarathustra Speaks".
