Three different fortepianos! Kramer, famous for his exercises, was a contemporary of Beethoven, with whom he also interacted. Although he was primarily a pianist, he also left behind many works, mainly piano pieces. Although Cramer's piano sonatas are rarely performed today, they are quite attractive because of their lively technicality and friendly style, which is influenced by Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, and Clementi. The piano sonatas, said to total about 200, were probably written for his own recitals, and most of them were composed in London and Vienna between the 1790s and 1820s. The performance is by Simone Pierini, a period keyboardist who has been very active recently, and uses three different types of Viennese fortepianos, Konrad Graf, Johann Haselmann, and Matthias Müller. Pitch is A=430Hz. The booklet (English, 12 pages) includes a detailed explanation by the performer Pierini, as well as photographs of the instruments used.
