Description:
Russian pianist and composer Lehra Auerbach made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2002 with a performance of her own "Suite for Violin, Piano, and Orchestra" (violin by Gidon Kremer), and has been actively performing since. Auerbach has composed three sets of "24 Preludes," all written in all 12 major and minor keys, following Chopin's preludes. This "Prelude for Violin and Piano" was written in 1999. Dedicated to violinist Vadim Gluzman and pianist Angela Joffe, it consists of condensed small pieces with clear contrasts. The music is colorful and rich, with a sense of tonality that at times is a bit thin, but it is in the tradition of Bach, Chopin, and Shostakovich. The violinist is Christine Bernstedt, born in Denmark in 1994, who won the "Mieczyslaw Weinberg International Competition" in Katowice in 2021, and since then has been working to introduce Polish works to the world.
