Kazuo Yamada's quintessential work, the 9th, which overwhelmed Japanese music fans in the early 1950s, comes back to life! The last movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony was performed at Sankei Hall on September 29, 1956 to commemorate the first anniversary of the Fuji Seitesu Concert broadcast. The soloists were the best of the time, and the orchestra was of course the NFC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kazuo Yamada. There are several recordings of Kazuo Yamada's Ninth, but in 1956, when the Ninth was not yet frequently performed, the audience was enthusiastic, and the 44-year-old Yamada exuded an intense energy not seen in his later years.
