Description:

A painful masterpiece that is a triple-threat in terms of music, performance, and sound quality! This is the first domestic release of the original commentary, including a Japanese translation of Milhaud's writing. The unique ballets and arrangements by Debussy and others are just delightful and new, and this is Satie's orchestral music! This is an officially licensed reissue of a masterpiece from the US Vanguard label in XRCD format, a high sound quality format that can be played on a standard CD player. This is an interesting album combining Satie's ballet works with orchestral arrangements by Debussy, Poulenc, and other composers who were close friends of Satie. The performances are superb, making this one of Satie's best orchestral albums. The original stereo recordings were crisp and clear, but the XRCD version has been transformed to an even more eye-opening sound. The "Pallade," with its pistols and typewriters, is truly a delight, and is highly recommended for audiophiles. The Debussy-arranged "Gymnopédie" will bring tears to your eyes with its restrained emotion and delicate tone, and the Milhaud-arranged "Surprise Box" will give you a delightful feast of sound. The Japanese translation of the original commentary is available for the first time in Japan. The jacket design is the same as the original LP. Abravanel is a famous conductor who had a long and close relationship with the Utah Symphony Orchestra and recorded the complete Mahler cycle and other works. He was acquainted with Milhaud when he was young, trained in Germany and France, and then moved to the United States, where he made a name for himself performing operas and the works of his teacher, Kurt Weill. He is therefore a master of Satie's distinctive narrative style, and knows how to make stylish stage music come alive. The music, the performance, and the sound quality make this a truly monumental Satie masterpiece. This is a wonderful album that those who don't know about it should definitely listen to. Commentary booklet] Darius Milhaud "Orchestral Music of Eric Satie (1866-1925)," S. W. Bennett "About the Works" (commentary on the recorded works), "Satie Talks about Herself," Japanese translation of the above from the original commentary King International
