Sontag, a New York post-classical/ambient trio that expresses unique "beauty" through beautiful piano melodies, clear and airy processed vocals, old analog sound equipment such as tape machines, and sound effects using everyday items such as rice and chopsticks. This is the first collaborative album by Shogun and Lau Nau, a Finnish female singer-songwriter who uses a wide range of instruments from traditional instruments and singing voices to field recordings. Titled "Valo Siroutuu," a Finnish word meaning "diffusion of light" in Japanese, the album is based on songs recorded by Lau Nau on the Finnish island of Kimitone, with each member of Sontag Shogun performing in Montreal, New York, and The album is a cross-border collaboration, with each member of Sontag Shogun overdubbing a variety of instruments in Montreal, New York, and Los Angeles.The beautiful silky layers of Lau Nau's ennui sung in Finnish and Jesse Perlstein's gentle voice of Sontag Shogun sung in English. The expansive sound of acoustic instruments such as piano and guitar, and analog sound equipment such as tape machines and synthesizers. The flowing, beautiful and magnificent sound will definitely touch the heartstrings of fans of Scandinavian artists such as Sigur Ros, Olafur Arnalds, and Mum. The collaboration of the talents of these two artists, who have toured live not only in North America and Europe, but also in Asia, and have been praised by renowned music media such as Pitchfork and The Wire, is a miraculous masterpiece that transcends not only borders but also musical genres. This release is now available in a limited edition 15cm x 15cm box version with artwork by Berlin graphic artist Anna Bernhardt. A special 16-page booklet with handwritten comments in Finnish and English, analog-taste photographs, and beautiful illustrations with nature motifs is included with the CD and visual cards.
