Since its formation in 2008, the Yasukiko Toyama Trio [Yasukiko Toyama (pf), Muneyuki Sekiguchi (b), Masaki Akiba (ds)] has always attracted fans with its charming original compositions and standard interpretations. The trio has released three albums so far on Rice Records: "Tres Trick," "Snowing Town," and "TOWARD THE 11TH. After "Letters," in which all the songs were standards, Rice Records released their seventh full-length album, "Toward the Eleventh. As the title suggests, this album is about "starting over after the Corona disaster. Although the Corona Disaster restricted the band's live-centered activity style, the band has been able to use the adversity to its advantage, such as the May 2020 release of a new song "Straight Away," which was performed remotely from the band members' homes and distributed over the Internet. This album includes many originals from such a period, and is mainly composed from the pen of Toyama, who has a very good reputation and has won the Jazz Melody Award many times in "Jazz Critic" magazine.
