Formed in Kansas in 1998. Lafayette began expressing themselves through sound itself, not words—unconsciously absorbing the razor-sharp rhythms of The Police, the catharsis of U2, the reverberations of Slowdive. In the early 2000s, drummer Chris embarked on journeys with Season to Risk and The Life and Times, and the band quietly drifted into silence. Yet the flame of their music never truly died. In 2021, fate drew them together once more. Triggered by one member's heart attack, Lafayette reunited. Coincidence or destiny—it was the moment when fragments of time intersected again. In November 2022, they stepped into Massive Studio, welcoming SHINER's Paul Marinowski as producer. Without rehearsal, without calculation, they recorded seven songs guided solely by the sound itself. That sound crystallized into a single sonic image, layered with multiple strata of memory and time.
