This recording captures the October 12, 1987, concert at Osaka Stadium—the final day of the Japanese leg of the “Bad World Tour,” Michael Jackson’s first solo tour! This recording captures the October 12, 1987, performance at Osaka Stadium, part of Michael Jackson’s second tour of Japan. Michael first visited Japan in 1973 as a member of the Jackson 5. He toured as part of the Jacksons during the *Off the Wall* and *Thriller* eras, but this *Bad World Tour* marked his first solo tour. The tour kicked off with a series of shows in Japan. In fact, he visited Japan twice during the *BAD* tour. The first was in 1987: September 12, 13, and 14 at Korakuen Stadium; September 19, 20, and 21 at Hankyu Nishinomiya Stadium; and September 25, 26, 27, October 3, and 4 at Yokohama Stadium. On the 10th, 11th, and 12th, he performed at Osaka Stadium—for a total of 14 shows. Originally scheduled for just 9 shows, the tour saw five additional performances added due to Michael’s immense popularity, which had become a social phenomenon. Michael stayed in Japan for over a month during this tour, and amid the media frenzy, many anecdotes from that time have been reported. The second tour took place in 1988, with all nine shows—on December 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26—scheduled at the Tokyo Dome. During the 1987 tour, Michael had little time for rehearsals due to the recording of *BAD*, so the setlist consisted of the *Victory Tour* setlist from 1984 with the new songs from *BAD* added. However, since he hadn’t visited Japan during that period, this might have been just right for Japanese fans. In contrast, the 1988 tour featured a significantly revamped setlist centered on new songs. This recording captures the final performance of the 1987 Japan tour. It includes rare moments—such as Michael, known for his perfectionism, singing a line wrong on “BAD”—that are sure to captivate listeners. There are plenty of highlights to enjoy.
