2021 Salzburg Festival LiveWith a new production by the wunderkind Jan Loeworth, "Intolleranza 1960," conducted by NONO interpretation giant Ingo Metzmacher, Luigi NONO's "Intolleranza 1960," performed at the 2021 Salzburg Festival, is now available on Blu-ray. The production was directed by the brilliant Jan Rhoads, leader of Belgium's leading performing arts company "Need Company," who also directed Christie's "The Crowning of Poppea" at the 2018 Salzburg Festival, which was a great success. Intolleranza 1960 is the first "theatrical action" NONO recomposed and composed based on a concept by Angelo Maria RIPERINO, and was commissioned by the 24th International Contemporary Music Festival of the Venice Biennale. It consists of 11 scenes divided into two parts, each dealing with a situation of terror that threatens humanity, such as social oppression, racism and refugee issues, and major natural disasters. All of the events discussed in the book actually happened around 1960, but even today, in 2022, these issues are still crises and problems facing the world.This new production by Roworth was created for the 100th anniversary of the Salzburg Festival. The innovative staging, which seems to jump over the boundary between music, dance, and theater, reality and fiction, will capture the audience's hearts. Ingo Metzmacher, a prodigy of the German musical world known as an expert on NONO, will conduct.
