Lute works by Bitner, played by virtuoso André Henrich André Henrich's second solo album, following his 2017 release of lute works by François Dufour (1604-c.1672) (AE10296), once again features a 17th century lute suite in the best French tradition. Written probably by the Austro-Bohemian composer Jacob Buttner, this collection of lute suites was published in 1682 and 1702 under the French name Jacques Bitner. It is well known in German-speaking countries as music for 11-course lute between Reussner and Weiss, but was hardly ever featured in concert or on recordings (it was last recorded 40 years ago). André Henrich is a German-born luthier who has been based in Paris since 2002.As a lute, theorbo, and baroque guitar soloist, chamber musician, and bass continuo player, he has performed with the major French old music ensembles, including Les Arts Florissants, La Saint-Honorée du Marais, Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien, Les Folies Françaises, and Opera Fuoco. and has played on more than 40 albums. With her partner, keyboardist Yoshie Hatano, she frequently performs in Japan.
