The Beethoven & Berg Concerto (HMC902105) with the Mozart Orchestra conducted by Abbado was a disc of divine beauty. The orchestra's Japan tour was also highly acclaimed, so expectations are high! Faust's sound is intensely beautiful and sears the listener's ears and heart. Once you have heard it, you will never forget the sound she produces with her mysterious bowing, which is weightless, but never light.She herself describes her tone as "straight as a laser, dazzling like a ray of light shooting through the air," and she plays Bach that resonates straight to the hearts of the listeners. The sustained tension at the beginning of the first adagio of Sonata No. 1, with its excellent sense of balance, is typical of Faust. However, this tension is not the same as a strong tension that puts the listener in a bind, but a strange tension unique to Faust, and from the very beginning, the listener is drawn into Faust's world. The Armando in Partita No. 1 is played in a casual manner over a floating rhythm that makes one keenly aware that the Armando is a dance piece.In the fourth piece, the impetuous movement of the Douvres, the detailed notes rush in and out of each other so rapidly that the centrifugal force seems to create a kind of weightless state, creating a mysterious world. In the final Allegro of Sonata No. 2, Faust's coolness explodes. Isabelle Faust, the performer, and the "Sleeping Beauty," the instrument that holds this wonderful tone, both meet at their best to create an extraordinary Bach world. King International
