Aleksandr Dembich, one of the most popular pianists in Poland, winner of the 2013 "Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest" with his album "Cinematic Piano" of his own piano works inspired by film music. His album "Bach stories" (9029.584015) with cellist Marcin Zdunik, also from Poland, also topped the charts and was a hit. Although his music is full of improvisation, the Bach performances on this album are based on a close review of the score and an emphasis on traditional baroque style, modern style, light and dark, meticulousness, and accidental moments. He plays the score exactly as it is written, but it's moist and soothing, like looking through a kaleidoscope, reflecting impressions, emotions, and beauty. I play Bach because I love those discoveries every time!" We follow the history of the Baroque style with the addition of ornamented notes, and get excited about Bach's great compositional techniques in the simple harmony of two or three voices.Its condensed beauty is timeless," he said. This performance of 30 Bach pieces is followed by his own Toccata, which was inspired by this piece.
