The passion of Spain and South America, performed by legendary guitarist Konrad Lagosnik Recorded in 1969 at Splafon’s Domovina Studio in Prague, this performance by legendary Austrian guitarist Konrad Lagosnik (1932–2018) is finally available on CD for the first time. After studying under Andrés Segovia, the “Emperor of Classical Guitar,” in Spain, Lagosnik won first prize at the ORTF competition in Paris. He subsequently pursued a solo career primarily in Europe while also devoting himself to training the next generation at the Basel Academy of Music and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He is known not only as a master of the classical guitar but also as a virtuoso of the Renaissance lute. This album features a truly colorful program of original works from Spain and South America, as well as piano works by Granados (arranged by his teacher Segovia) and Albéniz (arranged by Lagosnik). It is a masterful recording that beautifully captures the beauty and brilliance of Lagosnik’s tone, the subtle nuances of rhythm, dynamics, and articulation, all captured within the exquisite acoustics of the Domovina Studio.
