He has now announced the release of his 14th solo studio album, 'MAKE-UP IS A LIE'.This album, his first in about five years, also marks Morrissey's return to SIRE RECORDS. For this work, he reunited with producer Joe Chicalelli (The Strokes, The White Stripes, Weezer, My Morning Jacket) and recorded the album at Studio La Fabrique in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, southern France. With poetic and provocative lyrics, unpredictable and impressive instrumentation, and a title that can be interpreted as a clear call for unvarnished truth and expression, the 12 songs on this album will further cement Morrissey's status as one of the most highly regarded and powerful voices of the past 40 years. The album's intoxicating introduction is the first single, the title track "Make-up Is A Lie". Co-written with Morrissey's keyboardist Camilla Gray, the song flows energetically over a trip-hop-esque groove of echoing drums, propulsive bass riffs, and an air of mystery, bursting into swirling dream pop in the chorus.Morrissey's voice drifts over the song, weaving a strange tale of a woman who, even in death, desperately tries to deliver a message to him. It's a moving, dynamic track where the chorus's soulful cry, "Make-up is a lie," resonates endlessly in your ears and heart. The album features familiar collaborators alongside Morrissey: Jesse Tobias, Camilla Gray, Carmen Vandenberg, Juan Galeano, Alan White, Gustavo Mansur, and Brendan Buckley. The tracklist includes songs Morrissey has hinted at or mentioned before, unreleased material, and a cover of Roxy Music's 1973 hidden gem "Amazona."
